Did you mean to attach your account to SUL before renaming?

Your 'MichaelSchoenitzer' Developer account has been associated with the 'Michael Schönitzer (WMDE)' SUL account using the idm.wikimedia.org account management tool. While attempting to rename the legacy 'MichaelSchoenitzer' Wikitech account I found that it has already been attached to a SUL account with the same name. It is not clear if this SUL attachment was a delibrate choice you made or if it was a side effect of a confusing migration from Developer accounts to SUL accounts here on Wikitech.

If you feel this was an error, and that you would like to have the 'MichaelSchoenitzer' Wikitech account renamed to match the previously claimed 'Michael Schönitzer (WMDE)' SUL account, please leave a comment on phab:T386026 stating "Please detach 'MichaelSchoenitzer' from SUL, rename it to 'Michael Schönitzer (WMDE)', and reattach to SUL."

If you deliberately attached the 'MichaelSchoenitzer' Wikitech account to a matching SUL account, or if you don't much care either way, congratulations you don't need to do anything at all. -- BryanDavis (talk) 22:20, 10 February 2025 (UTC)Reply

@BryanDavis Sorry, I don't understand a word and don't know what this is all about. 'Michael Schönitzer (WMDE)' was the account I used for my work at Wikimedia Germany, while "Michael Schönitzer" is my private account. I no longer work an WMDE, so I won't need the according account. Here on wikitech I have only edited a few times as private person, therefore it should rather be connected to my private account. -- MichaelSchoenitzer (talk) 12:20, 15 February 2025 (UTC)Reply

Wikitech is in the process of converting to a "normal" SUL account using wiki. As part of this process we are attempting to connect legacy Wikitech accounts with the developer's preferred SUL account. At some point in the past you used https://toolsadmin.wikimedia.org/ to associate the Special:CentralAuth/Michael Schönitzer (WMDE) SUL account with the MichaelSchoenitzer Developer account. When my automation scripts tried to rename this Wikitech account to match that association the script failed because you had already attached the Wikitech account to a different SUL account.
Here on wikitech I have only edited a few times as private person, therefore it should rather be connected to my private account.
It sounds like the current Wikitech account state is correct then @MichaelSchoenitzer. If you have the time you could use https://idm.wikimedia.org/login/mediawiki/ to associate this SUL account with your Developer account, but there is no urgent need for that to happen. -- BryanDavis (talk) 15:29, 20 February 2025 (UTC)Reply
